Steve participated in his first triathlon in 2010 while attending Veterinary School in the Caribbean. It all started with a flier posted in a local gym advertising a sprint triathlon on the neighboring island. With no swim, bike, run background, he set out with a 2-month plan for completing the race. He marked 0.5km in the sand using his car’s odometer. Every day after school, he would go down to the beach and learn how to swim. He started running the hilly terrain surrounding his home. The day before the race, he borrowed a bike from a classmate. The classmate was 6-10 inches taller than him.
The race went great! It was nowhere near perfection, but that was his first lesson in endurance sports.
Fast forward 10+ years, he’s competed in many marathons, 70.3’s, 70.3 World Championships, numerous Ironman. He has participated in the IM World Championship, Ultramarathons, and Ultraman. He placed 2nd at the Ultraman World Championship in 2022.
Steve does this while maintaining a busy full-time job. He has 2 wonderful daughters. His wife also works full time.
